Choices, choices.

So here is the next step in my current project. I have to decide which side I like better.  The left side is all red tones. The right has greens. I drafted my daughter and she said the left side.  What do you think?

My Diet is Over.

I feel so modern with my new designer fabric.

About 5 or 6 years ago I decided that I would limit myself to buying only fabric that would complete a project.  Of course I cheated once in a while, but I mostly stuck to that rule. I wanted to finish all my UFO's (un-finished objects) before I would buy fabric for a new project.

As a result I have a lot of quilts done in natural colors.  I met a new friend a couple of years ago who used beautiful new fabrics. I have to admit the green-eyed monster in me started to grow. I decided it was time to lift the ban and I bought new fabric. It is so much fun to quilt with new modern fabric. Below is my next project.

No More Gaggles

I made this quilt at the Quilter's Paradise Retreat at Bass Lake about 3 years ago.  It is called a Gaggle of Pinwheels. It is so small but took almost the whole weekend.  SO many triangles.

My friend Cindy Wiens says that a bunch of geese is called a gaggle. Thanks Cindy for that piece of trivia.

Copy cat, Copy cat

My first blog post.

My mom and I were at the MCC quilt auction. I was announcing the quilts and bidding on the one below on the right.  I kept being out-bid by someone in the rafters.  When I checked out who it was, I saw my mom, grrrr! She has a lot more money than I do so I knew I was doomed. She out-bid me on the quilt, but I decided to re-create it. It turned out to be a lot cheaper this way.

Mine is on the right, hers is on the left.  I finished the top, and just need to have it quilted.
I had a lot of fun making it. It is a nine patch alternating with a hour glass 3 inch blocks. The border is hand appliqued.

I asked some of my quilting friends if they wanted to do a joint project for the MCC auction and they wanted to do this one, great! (Sarcasm)    So I got the fabric and passed it out to everyone. They all made some of the 9 patches and hourglass squares, this time the squares were 6 inch . My awesome friends Vicki and Deborah and I put together the borders.

This is one of the 2 we put together.  This one has the lighter fabrics.  The other one is almost done.

Done!!
Here is the quilt with the brighter blocks.

Now they will go off to be quilted.
